OTTAWA — Kyries Hebert isn’t backing down from being Public Enemy No. 1 in Calgary.
As an alternative, when he was requested about that distinction on Wednesday in Ottawa, the Redblacks linebacker determined to take a shot at former Stampeders operating again Jon Cornish.
Hebert , with the Montreal Alouettes on the time, was fined in 2014 after delivering a brutal unlawful hit to Cornish’s head that left the Stamps nice with a severe concussion.
On June 28, Hebert once more took a head shot at a member of the Stampeders, this time incomes a one-game suspension for going excessive on receiver DaVaris Daniels.
That prompted a — since deleted — tweet from Cornish calling for the Redblacks to launch Hebert, who introduced it up Wednesday when he was requested concerning the notion of him as a grimy participant amongst Calgarians.
“It’s not one thing I care about, no,” Hebert stated. “I noticed Cornish had a tweet but it surely was sort of tender, which is how I at all times handled him on the sphere.
“No matter, I’m right here to help my staff and my household and the followers of (Redblacks nation), that’s who I care about.”
Along with his hits on Cornish and Daniels, Hebert has confronted disciplinary motion from the CFL for helmet-to-helmet hits on former Toronto Argonauts quarterback Cody Fajardo and present teammate Brendan Gillanders.
After the hit on Daniels, it wasn’t simply Stampeders who had been calling Hebert soiled.
“All the things they stated we not allowed to do, he did all of it in that play,” tweeted Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence.
It was Cornish, although, who drew the ire of Hebert.
“(Hebert) forfeited his proper to be on this league,” Cornish wrote after the hit on Daniels. “It’s time for us to all arise for each other and state we is not going to settle for this behaviour. Please be a part of me in asking the (Redblacks) to launch Kyrie Hebert.”
On Wednesday, Hebert selected to defend his file whereas accepting that his hit on Daniels was unlawful.
“There’s a solution to do issues and that wasn’t the way in which, so make changes,” Hebert stated. “I’ve over 800 profession tackles, I’ve been in bother 5 instances, possibly. So the ratio’s not prefer it’s an each play incident (or) incidence. I’m going to scrub it up, like I stated, a very powerful factor is our staff and being out there for them.”
If Hebert was making an attempt to impress the Stampeders, they selected to not reply on Wednesday after they arrived in Ottawa.
“We don’t actually get into that kind of discuss,” stated Stamps defensive deal with Micah Johnson. “Everyone knows what it was, he is aware of what it’s. The league dealt with it how they felt they need to have dealt with it.
“Jon’s obtained nothing to do with it or this staff, so we simply discuss with our pads.”
That was a sentiment that was echoed across the Stamps dressing room.
“We let the league deal with it,” stated Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson. “I’m not likely too positive what was stated, so I actually shouldn’t remark till I see it.”
